Benefits and features
When it comes to availability, it’s what’s inside that counts.
Centiel’s three-phase modular technology, referred to as Distributed Active Redundant Architecture (DARA), ensures 9-nines uptime availability with no single point of failure. With DARA, each UPS module is independent, redundant, and interconnected. Each module is a complete UPS system in its own right, with its own computing power, three independent power converters, a static bypass, and all the hardware devices needed to safely isolate a fault without impacting the load. This maximizes the mean time between failures (MTBF) and safeguards the power of your critical applications.
DARA’s Distributed Decision Making technology, referred to as DDM™, elevates redundancy by enabling collaborative decision-making among all modules. This ensures a continuous power supply to your load, even during crucial decision-making moments. With DDM, the UPS can make distributed decisions, eliminating the single point of failure typically associated with master-slave technology. As a result, downtime is minimized, and critical loads remain protected.
DARA’s technology on the frame level has been designed to accommodate non-intrusive maintenance and to minimize mean time to repair (MTTR), ensuring that any downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. For example, in the event of a power failure, frontal access to components avoids the need for removing modules, thereby reducing the risk of human error.

Benefits and features
Centiel UPSs are equipped with MEM (Maximum Efficiency Management), which ensures maximum efficiency even at underload. When the UPS is operating well below its capacity, energy efficiency can be compromised.
MEM solves this problem by intelligently adapting the number of modules to the load demand, thus optimizing resource utilization. It calculates the minimum modules required to support the load while maintaining redundancy for reliability.
Excess modules go into “active sleep” mode, significantly reducing energy consumption and maintaining system integrity. In the event of a load increase, these modules are quickly reactivated to meet the new demand. MEM’s intelligent and adaptive approach maximizes efficiency and proves to be a valuable asset in modern power management systems.
Active
The UPS module is actively operating in double conversion mode and contributing to the load alongside other active modules. The individual module’s load is proportionally distributed, with each module carrying an equal share of the full load divided by the total number of active modules.
Standby
The UPS module remains in standby mode, poised to swiftly switch to active double conversion mode if required. Its response time for the transition to active mode is measured in milliseconds, ensuring quick and seamless power delivery when needed.

Benefits and features
Leveraging peak-shaving for advanced energy management
Centiel UPSs offer a valuable peak-shaving feature that enables businesses to efficiently manage power consumption and minimize costs. By using the StratusPower 208V peak shaving feature, businesses can strategically reduce energy consumption during peak load periods when electricity prices are typically at their highest. This results in significant cost savings while ensuring a streamlined and cost-effective power management strategy. Centiel UPSs enable businesses to proactively optimize their power consumption, making them a smart choice for sustainable and economical energy solutions.
At times of peak consumption, grid operators can demand a higher price for their power. Some of the energy stored locally in the UPS can be used at these times, reducing the amount taken from the grid. (However, UPS power reserves will never be allowed to drop below what is required to supply the critical loads.) UPS batteries can then be recharged using off-peak power.
Exploiting local energy storage in this way not only cuts upfront energy costs for the user but also reduces the excess generation capacity the power supplier has to have on hand. Local UPS energy storage also supports the ongoing move away from centralized power suppliers to distributed, renewable generation and storage.
